Answer: Presentation The new turns of events and procedures in human services frameworks throughout the hundreds of years have demonstrated that the wonder is anything but a static item. Truth be told, as the elements in the framework transforms nearly consistently, Medical specialists spend restless evenings in attempting to figure out where social insurance will be in the following ten to twenty years. The paper centers around the various investigations that have been led on clinical mechanical advances in medicinal services industry other than uncovering different developments and the general ramifications to the present clinical calling (Abraham, 2010). Innovative Changes in Healthcare Industry Wellbeing and clinical consideration frameworks think about innovation as the most vital part to human communication. It is a key pointer of current wellbeing costs and to be sure the conveyor of things to come cost suggestions. Those in need have commended this present move thinking about that specialists in the field have received different strategies for helping them. The innovative progression has improved simpler treatment of disease, conveyance of children, coronary episodes, and numerous other wellbeing difficulties. Further examinations show that huge changes in innovation have the ability to turn into the fundamental powers of chance in the social insurance firms just as the significant wellspring of monetary riches develops (Bilibin Zorin, 2006). Thusly the network has high expectation in innovation headway particularly when its suggestion is equipped towards wellbeing address. Present day wellbeing and clinical experts face inflexible insurance agencies and broken clinical framework as significant obstacles in their line of obligations. Be that as it may, all through this whole unavoidable condition, they have astoundingly given patient consideration and created new human services methods. It is accepted that as the new progression in this field keep calling; specialists will be better positioned at managing medical issues in a more savvy way concerning enhancements in biomedical analysts (Chandra Cheek, 2001). Social insurance Field is Being Revolutionized by Three Main Changes: Populace Science for Treating Epidemics-Essentially, populace science is the investigation of general disease and wellbeing inside gatherings. During wellbeing episodes in the past general wellbeing, specialists would apply this technique as a method of relieving its spread. At present, headway of innovation has improved the transformation clinical field through the investigation of populace science in clinical establishments. Other than doctors are in position survey and assess patients for a huge scope, inspect the life expectancy and the passing pace of individuals inside a specific range lastly set up the recurrence of ailment along the medicinal services pipeline. Ailments, for example, coronary illness, stoutness and malignant growth are as of now on the ascent. In this manner as opposed to regarding them as people populace science as an examination will give specialists consent to treat their pestilences in a huge scope way. Preferably, it will go about as practical technique to the administration (Karakolias Polyzos, 2014). The social insurance framework in Taiwan is the most recent division to have grasped this new move. Numerous illnesses and scatters have developed since change hit human services field, and along these lines practically unthinkable for a solitary specialist to complete research to find out treatment of each infection on the planet. In such manner they can, they incorporate and merge their discoveries with proof based rules making treatment of any sickness simpler (MACPHEE SURYAPRAKASH, 2011). Electronic Medical Records-This is the utilization of programming during the time spent clinical charging and coding of things with the sole motivation behind sending them electronically to the end clients. The most recent couple of decades has seen clinical charging and coding change from desk work to the electronic framework. The HIPAA laws require every single clinical specialist to have innovatively determined programming for conveying electronic costs (Kuan Kok, 2015). The utilization of PC empowers specialists to get to every single clinical report of the patient and discover the conceivable reason for ailment they might be experiencing. Furthermore, it has acquired enormous straightforwardness the medicinal services framework through measurable documentation of the accessible populace thusly forestalling pointless expenses. It can likewise go about as a guard dog on the utilization of fund by the administration being up to date of how much cash ought to be repaid for rewarding patients. The routes through which innovation has changed the field of medicinal services is massive. There is no uncertainty that numerous parts of our lives are straightforwardly and relatively affected by any change made by the executives of these organizations. To this end better and significantly greater treatment has been made open to all. Its presentation has its sheer of amazing focal points to the wellbeing specialists since they are better positioned in investigating and doing research online subsequently being acquainted with the fix of momentum disease. There is additionally improved consideration and productivity that keeps on working consummately in the patient consideration offices because of the data that patients are guaranteed of through IT. At the point when patients enter the medicinal services framework, they are eager of the high caliber of lab results, legitimate and refreshed records of clinical treatment and at any rate brought together region of data gathering. Theref ore, they will have a positive view of expanded degree of productivity in information assortment (Vab, 2009). Most medicinal services projects and malady control instruments are led and improved by utilization of explicit programming program. For instance WHO has a database which comprises in excess of 14,000 codes that arrange disease, with respect to their causes and indications in like manner. This setting empowers clinical specialists to recover and utilize significant data to develop the correct determination for battling and controlling rising wellbeing sickness. Patients recognize the way that the presentation of programming has advanced another kind of straightforwardness and responsibility in the human services frameworks; while specialists invest wholeheartedly in the manner in which unbelievable advantages accumulated from the utilization of electronic clinical records in this way decreasing desk work levels. The extent of the present utilization of innovative changes in social insurance fields can be followed from the organization and clinical applications (Orlova, 2015). Organization Applications of Information Technology Mechanized referral and preparing Persistent records that are modernized Bookkeeping and charging/modernized affirmation information Administrative choice backings frameworks Computerized the executives data frameworks Clinical Application of Information Communication Shrewd cards Example acknowledgment and nonpartisan systems Modernized patient records linkages Telemedicine and Tele wellbeing applications This enormous point of view on the jobs of innovation in the dynamic social insurance calling has a few favorable circumstances. As respects to dynamic the administration be educated about commitments that the correct programming introduced is adding to the issue of assets designation notwithstanding tending to the requirements the taking care of issues present (Sergeev, Stepanov, Akulinin, Mitsik, 2014). Furthermore, an exhaustive assessment of clinical innovation with respect to evaluating the impact on social insurance will improve effectiveness and execution of the clinical establishments. The social insurance industry is encountering huge innovative headway that incorporates: The cloud-Recent examination imply the way that 77% of cloud benefits in the human services are medium hazard while over 13% are said to have the high hazard for security fades. Computerized diagnostics-The arrangement of advanced diagnostics to people who can't get to a specialists office is central to the soundness of a person. Neurotrack is an analytic test programming put together Alzheimer which finds disengagements with respect to the hippocampus. Ultra-quick scanners-These are formulated that can catch the hearts picture in the particular beat. The examination shows that 60% of patients displays 60 beats for each moment of which the scanner can't quantify along these lines dismissed by the sweep (Soni, 2010). Wearable-The report from shopper gadgets affiliation shows that income and deals of brilliant watches and wellness trackers will hit $ 1 billion as years move by. For the moment, the qualities of Parkinsons sickness were found by the collaborating of Intel and Michael J.Fox Foundation. Attendant clinical administrations The framework permits one to pay for administrations or items that are on request in pay out of the pocket way. For instance, a few urban communities permit one to scan for an office that meets your requirements, get email get to, online projects and arrangements and get instructional courses from proficient specialists (Zadjali M, 2014). Systems and training Technology improves simpler customization of diet and wellbeing plans. Fortunately numerous towns and urban areas currently offer curbside pickup of leaves and other yard squander, which they at that point move toward fertilizer for park upkeep or available to be purchased economically. What's more, there are other consume free alternatives also. Consuming Leaves May Spark Health Problems On account of the dampness that is typically caught inside leaves, they will in general consume gradually and consequently produce a lot of airborne particulates-fine bits of residue, sediment and other strong materials. As indicated by Wisconsinââ¬â¢s Department of Natural Resources, these particulates can venture profound into lung tissue and cause hacking, wheezing, chest torment, brevity of breath and in some cases long haul respiratory issues. Leaf smoke may likewise contain unsafe synthetic compounds, for example, carbon monoxide, which can tie with hemoglobin in the circulatory system and decrease the measure of oxygen in the blood and lungs. Another poisonous substance regularly present in leaf smoke is benzo(a)pyrene, which has been appeared to cause malignant growth in creatures and is accepted to be a central point in lung disease brought about by tobacco smoke. And keeping in mind that taking in leaf smoke can bother the eyes, nose, and throat of sound grown-ups, it can truly unleash ruin on little youngsters, the older and individuals with asthma or other lung or heart maladies. Little Leaf Fires Can Cause Big Pollution Problems Irregular individual leaf fires generally donââ¬â¢t cause any significant contamination, yet different flames in one geographic zone can cause convergences of air toxins that surpass government air quality norms. As per the U.S. Natural Protection Agency (EPA), a few leaf and yard squander fires consuming at the same time in a specific region can cause air contamination equaling that from industrial facilities, engine vehicles, and garden hardware. Fallen Leaves Make Good Compost Purdue University buyer cultivation pro Rosie Lerner says that fertilizing the soil leaves is the most eco-accommodating option in contrast to consuming. Dry takes off alone will enjoy quite a while to reprieve down, she says, however blending in green plant materials, for example, grass trimmings, will accelerate the procedure. Wellsprings of nitrogen, for example, animals compost or business manure, will likewise help. ââ¬Å"Mix the heap once in a while to keep a decent gracefully of air in the compost,â⬠she says, including that a fertilizer heap ought to be at least three cubic feet and will create soil conditioner inside weeks or a couple of months, contingent upon conditions. Mulch Leaves Instead of Burning Another choice is to shred leaves for use as mulch for your yard or to help secure nursery and scene plants. Lerner proposes including close to an a few inch layer of leaves around effectively developing plants, cleaving or destroying the leaves first so they donââ¬â¢t tangle down and keep air from arriving at roots. As to utilizing leaves as mulch for your garden, it is only a basic matter of cutting directly over the leaves with the lawnmower and leaving them there. Similarly as with leaves utilized for garden mulch, this will give numerous advantages, including weed concealment, dampness protection and control of soil temperature. Answer: 1) Economic models apply monetary hypothesis to clarify and conjecture parametric changes in financial factors after some time under certain particular supposition. Henceforth rearranged approximations of the genuine monetary circumstances are spoken to by financial models. In any case, financial models are supposed to be ridiculous. The primary explanation for this sort of articulation is that a monetary model is shaped under a significant number of presumptions the greater part of which probably won't hold in reality. Subsequently, when these suppositions are loose, the model loses its legitimacy and neglects to clarify monetary results. Monetary models are intended to be improved portrayal of this present reality. Be that as it may, since the suspicions don't generally hold in reality, in some cases financial models neglect to fill the genuine need. (Hindriks, 2008) Monetary models are basically founded on specific presumptions which might be either vital or disentangling. These suspicions are made to improve complex genuine monetary circumstances empowering financial hypothesis to decipher results of the genuine economy and furthermore estimate what's to come. When the result of a model is shown up at, the suspicions are loosened up each in turn to get a closer estimation of the genuine financial circumstance concerned in light of the fact that these presumptions by and large don't hold in actuality. On the other side, since these monetary models are generally founded on abstract suspicions, they may create totally various outcomes when any of these presumptions is loose or even adjusted. This demonstrates the conceivable disappointment of a financial model to foresee monetary results for this present reality. This hypothesis approves the given articulation. (Syll, 2010) Let us think about the Simple Keynesian model (SKM). It accept that request makes its own flexibly, the value level stays fixed, the economy is shut, there is overabundance creation limit in the economy, and so on. In view of every one of these presumptions, it gives the result of balance of total flexibly and request in the economy. Be that as it may, in reality these suspicions don't generally hold. Request doesn't really make its own flexibly. Value levels are not fixed in light of the fact that there are occurrences of expansion. Also, practically no economy on the planet is shut. Subsequently practically a large portion of the suspicions on which the model is based don't remain constant. In the event that these suspicions are loosened up the model will lose its legitimacy. Additionally, it doesn't consider some principle monetary parameters like cash and loan costs that assume significant jobs in deciding the total interest in the economy. So the model is anything but a legitima te estimate of this present reality. (Mankiw, 2006) 2) In Australia negative outfitting is an instrument of assessment that qualifies speculators for charge reasonings on causing misfortunes on property ventures made on money related credits. Financial specialists can make sure about themselves against misfortunes from property speculations by getting an expense finding equivalent to the measure of the misfortune. (Koulizos, 2016) 60 percent of the proprietors in Australia brought about misfortunes of around $10,000 in the year 2013-2014. Nonetheless, in view of the pervasiveness of the arrangement of negative outfitting, these misfortunes were recuperated by means of personal assessment decreases of the separate sums. Negative outfitting, henceforth, urges potential financial specialists to put resources into properties without confronting misfortunes due to the current protection of negative equipping. This goes about as a significant segment of total interest. Over the long haul, this extends the speculation openings in an economy and furthermore supports financial development to a huge degree. An evacuation of negative equipping suggests that the protection approach against speculation misfortunes is pulled back. This would clearly demoralize financial specialists from putting resources into properties any further. Regardless of whether they do contribute, the size of venture would lessen by a huge degree concerning the whole economy. (Cahill, 2016) This would prompt a mutilation in costs just as rents in the lodging market in the short run in light of the fact that there will be an interest gracefully befuddle. In any case, a few financial analysts propose that over the long haul, this may really be great for the economy in general (Jericho, 2016) The above figure speaks to the expulsion of negative outfitting from the economy. As negative outfitting is expelled, interest in properties falls which prompts a fall in the gracefully of houses in the medium and since quite a while ago run. This is spoken to by a leftward move of the flexibly bend from SS to SS. Different things staying steady, there is no motivation behind why this fall in gracefully will be joined by any decrease sought after. In this manner interest for houses or investment properties stays unaltered. Accordingly, costs go up from P* to P to equilibrate request and the new flexibly as at point E. Henceforth, if negative outfitting is expelled, leases and costs get contorted, by and large the upward way. This applies a negative impact on speculators by and large, particularly on singular financial specialists like guardians buying houses as a venture instrument for their kids. Besides, individuals renting houses would likewise be influenced in view of the unexpected disturbance in rents. Given certain parameters and conditions, leases and costs may not after all expansion on the evacuation of negative outfitting. (Janda, 2016) Then again, considering the instance of largescale offer of properties via proprietors and different financial specialists, the gracefully of houses may really expand moving the flexibly bend outward. This would in truth lead to a fall in the cost of houses and furthermore leases. 3) The extract charge is $ 0.537 per cigarette. (as on first July 2016) The total extract charge on 20 cigarettes is $ (0.537 x 20) = $10.74 $11 The new cost of 20 bundle cigarettes is $ (10 + 11) = $21 The assessment would influence merchants in the accompanying manner: In the above figure, DD is the interest bend for cigarettes and SS is the gracefully bend of cigarettes. The harmony is set up at E with value P* and amount Q*. At the point when an extract charge is forced, the cost goes up. This expanded cost is separated among purchasers and venders by expanding the cost followed through on by purchasers and lessening the cost got by merchants. In this manner, as the cost got by venders falls and the amount provided additionally falls. Along these lines, the all out income of the tobacco makers decreases to an impressive degree. On inconvenience of an expense, the cost goes up from P* to PB. In any case, the expanded cost doesn't mirror the whole measure of the expense. The purchasers need to pay PB though the merchants get just PS. The duty rate is (PB PS) = $0.537. On the government assistance grounds, the buyer surplus decreases by the zone An and the maker surplus falls by the region B. Despite the fact that this is by all accounts lost govern ment assistance clearly, this really brings about the improvement of social government assistance as for wellbeing parameters. The expense rate is proportionately isolated among purchasers and dealers and the extents can be subjective. Here the separate versatilities assume a significant job. The particular extents rely upon the flexibility of interest for tobacco and the versatility of the gracefully of tobacco. The specialist who will pay the higher extent of the assessment has lesser versatility comparative with the other. The general supposition that will be that the interest flexibility of cigarettes is moderately much low contrasted with the gracefully versatility of cigarettes which is generally higher. Cigarette being a fixation decent is for the most part request inelastic. Consequently, purchasers would pay more duty than venders as appeared in the accompanying chart: In the above figure, DD is the interest bend which is generally inelastic as contrasted and the gracefully bend SS. As can be seen from the figure, therefore the assessment portion of purchasers given by the territory An is more than that of the dealers spoke to by the zone B. Subsequently, purchasers bear a higher piece of the complete duty income. 4) The French organization DCNS took up the agreement of building the Australian submarines at a cost of $50b. There are numerous monetary explanations for giving the agreement of creating each of the twelve submarines to just one firm and not to different firms. Cost minimization is the fundamental rationale and this would profit both the maker and the Australian economy. Assume the agreement was offered out to 4 distinct firms where each would need to deliver 3 submarines. For this situation, the total expense borne by 4 unique firms to create 3 submarines each would surpass the expense borne by DCNS for the creation of the 12 submarines. Here, the law of lessening costs works. This suggests with increment in the units of the ware, costs continue falling. The expense would be limited with the most extreme creation. This would convert into marked down costs that the Australian government would need to pay. In the event that 4 firms were to create 3 submarines each, the cost charged from the Australian government may have been $15b for each firm which would signify an absolute expense of $60b which surpasses the $50b that its previously paying to DCNS. Mass requests are commonly all the more speaking to any maker. Along these lines, on the off chance that one maker is given to deliver the whole request, the work should be possible all the more proficiently, at the base expense and precisely. This is advantageous for the Australian government and economy just as the maker or firm taking up the request; which for this situation is DCNS. In this manner, the Australian government has appropriate monetary support in giving the whole agreement to DCNS in light of the fact that this decreases the expense as well as guarantees effective creation.. This can be appeared as follows: At the point when each firm has 3 submarines to create, a normal absolute expense of $5b per submarine is acquired. Anyway when one firm needs to deliver 12 submarines, the normal all out expense is $3b per submarine. Thus if each firm delivers 3 submarines, the all out expense would $15b. Be that as it may, for this situation when just one firm is creating all the submarines, $36b is the total expense. Thus, as the quantity of submarines delivered by a firm builds, the all out cost falls Leone Carlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02025798934885440526noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5319178694643850706.post-71537897765793339952020-08-21T13:24:00.001-07:002020-08-21T13:24:07.930-07:00Science lab Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 wordsScience lab - Assignment Example Somewhere in the range of 1900 and 2000 the worldââ¬â¢s populace expanded by six billion and industrialization was at its pinnacle (Wright and Boorse, 2010). Huge real estate parcel has been cleared to oblige settlement and farming. This added to 90% decrease in ground water. The pattern of natural debasement came to spotlight in 1962 when Rachael Carson composed a book called quiet spring. Afterward, in 1972 report named breaking point to development and another known as our basic future in 1987 by Brundtland commission were distributed (Wright and Boorse, 2010). The satellite vegetation maps indicating the vegetation spread from 1800 to date and human settlements map over a similar span of time was a major wellspring of information for this examination. In addition to bad working conditions, Carnegie has been criticized for paying his workers low wages, therefore making labor relations between Carnegie and the people who worked very hard. Carnegie built plants around the country, using technology and methods that made making steel much more efficient. He had all the material in order to get started including raw materials, ships and railroads for transporting the goods, and even coal fields to fuel the steel furnaces. Having these resources helped him begin his monopoly, and the top in the industry. After 12 years of working in the Steel Industry Carnegie considered retirement, but little did he know that a banker named J.P Morgan secretly wanted to buy out his Steel factory. J.P Morgan watched closely for years on how Carnegie thrived in his business and how quickly and efficiently he produced profit. He envisioned a more thorough steel industry that would lower the costs for materials, lower prices for buyers, be able to make produce in larger amounts and raise wages for the workers. In order to do this he needed to buy out Carnegie and several other major producers and combine them into one major company, therefore getting rid of duplication. He finished negotiations on March 2 1901, and then made the United States Steel Corporation. It was the very first corporation in the world with a market capitalization over $1 billion. The buyout, secretly negotiated by Charles M Schwab, was the largest industrial takeover in United States history to this day. The holdings were incorporated in the United States Steel Corporation. Then Carnegies Steel Corporations were bought out for $303,450,000. By 1889, Carnegie Steel Corporation was the largest Steel Company in the world. After Carnegie sold his steel company, he retired from business and devoted himself full-time to philanthropy. Youââ¬â¢ve done the college visits. Youââ¬â¢ve seen the rankings. Youââ¬â¢ve even looked into degree programs and talked to your childââ¬â¢s high school guidance counselor. You may even have it categorized into schools that are easy for your student to get admitted to, those that are a good match, and those that are unlikely ââ¬â but still possible. However, our question for you is ââ¬â is your college list financially balanced? Do you have a mix of financial safety, match, and reach schools? Kellie, a parent from our Paying For College 101Facebook groupis going through the college admissions process for the second time. The first time was with her daughter, a National Merit Finalist. Having the recognition of being a National Merit Finalist, Kellies daughter was able to find schools the family could more easily afford, mainly because she was able to qualify for full-ride scholarships at certain schools. As an ACT test prep tutor, Kellie says shes very passionate about the topic of making sure students have financial safety schools on their college list. I work with many students whose parents do not consider or discuss the financials until very late in the process and students can be very disappointed. Kellie is also realistic and knew the process would be different with her son, a current high school senior. I explained our financial position (not sharing all numbers but we had a job loss and major changes in financials) and so he was understanding. It is hard because many in our area (wealthier suburbs of MN) are willing to pay for whatever school their students choose (or at least it feels that way to him). He was willing to look at it practically, especially since both his parents are still paying back our own student loans. We allowed 2 reach financials. Required 2 known financial safeties. And anything in the middle it had to look likely scholarships would make it affordable. If scholarships do not come through, he cannot attend. We made a total budget allowed. We considered parent contribution, student federal loan, and student work/scholarship total. If a schools sticker price with scholarships factored in is higher than that budget they are not applying. The Traditional College List Focus Most families focus on finding schools that are based on academic fit and match. If affordability comes into the equation at all, itââ¬â¢s usually after acceptances come in. Unfortunately, this can lead to very bad outcomes. Weââ¬â¢ve actually seen students who were admitted to several of the schools they applied to ââ¬â but they couldnââ¬â¢t afford ANY of them. You donââ¬â¢t want your family in that situation! Instead, shift your perspective and think about making sure your college list includes a mix of affordable schools before your student even applies. If you donââ¬â¢t think about financial balance in the beginning, you wonââ¬â¢t have financial options in the end. Your student will be disappointed or your family will be in significant debt. Part of the research you do needs to involve how much the school will actually cost and whether thatââ¬â¢s an attainable number for your family. Redefining Safety, Match, and Reach Schools It can be quite a paradigm change to think about finances right away. Most people have safety, match, and reach schools based on how likely their student is to be admitted. Thatââ¬â¢s an important consideration, but you canââ¬â¢t afford to leave money out of the equation. Instead of only thinking of admissions, list your studentââ¬â¢s possible schools in terms of safety, match, and reach from a financial standpoint. You can use the net price calculator of each school to find a closer approximation of the real cost of attendance. The more questions the calculator asks, the better ââ¬â it will be more accurate than those with only a few questions. Safety schools are colleges that your family can afford with only federal student loans ââ¬â or even without them ââ¬â and your student has a high chance of being accepted. Match schools are those where the net price calculator indicates your student is likely to get merit or other free aid. With that aid, along with only federal student loans, your family can afford to send your student there. Reach schools are colleges that you know you canââ¬â¢t afford to send your student to, but youââ¬â¢re willing to see if they offer a large amount of merit or need-based aid to make it affordable. Even if your student is awarded merit scholarships or need-based aid, your family may still need a private student loan from a lender like College Ave Student Loans as well. It may be your studentââ¬â¢s dream school or a ââ¬Å"brand nameâ⬠school ââ¬â but they need to understand that if the aid isnââ¬â¢t there, they canââ¬â¢t go! One of the most important things you can do is not worry about whether the school is ââ¬Å"name-brandâ⬠or not. If you can treat all schools equally, it widens your financial opportunities Does a Name Brand School Matter? If you donââ¬â¢t pursue name-brand schools, are you hurting your studentââ¬â¢s education? The Power of Brands A lot of people think that which college or university you attend is a make-or-break moment for a young person. However, thereââ¬â¢s an increasing amount of research that shows which school you attend is a lot less important than what opportunities you take advantage of in college. Yes, there are rankings released every year, but these are aimed at parents ââ¬â not employers or those who will impact your childââ¬â¢s future. Rankings have become more marketing than a truerepresentation of the quality of a school. What Really Matters You want a school thatââ¬â¢s the right fit for your student. What really makes a difference is the major your child chooses, the experiences and internships they take advantage of, and how well they prepare themselves for their choice of career. A study from Stanford found that ââ¬Å"Students who, for example, study hard, form strong relationships with professors, and participate in the college community tend to thrive during and after school whether they attended a top-ranked institution or not.â⬠The research that you should focus on isnââ¬â¢t rankings, itââ¬â¢s accreditation, graduation rate, job placement (which may vary by degree program), culture, class size, and percentage of full-time faculty. Thriving Where You Go Frank Bruni, the well-known New York Times columnist, and author ofWhere You Go Is Not Who Youll Be: An Antidote to the College Admissions Mania, points out that highly motivated students will thrive no matter where they are planted. He goes on to list people who went to non-brand-name schools and turned out more than fine, becoming Fortune 500 executives, Pulitzer Prize winners, and MacArthur Foundation fellows. At less-elite schools, classes are more likely to be directly taught by full-time faculty. And of course, lower-tier schools are less expensive and often more likely to offer aid. Talking to Your Student About Finances A lot of kids get stars in their eyes about their ââ¬Å"dreamâ⬠school, whether itââ¬â¢s the reputation or the fact that their friends are going. They assume that if they work hard they can go to any college they want. Unfortunately, they need to understand the financial reality too. From federal aid to private student loans from providers like College Ave Student Loans, itââ¬â¢s important to be responsible. We hear from parents every day who are going through exactly what youââ¬â¢re facing. These parents, in our Facebook Group Paying For College 101, recently shared how they deal with the financial side of making a college list. One parent makes it simple: ââ¬Å"If we dont think we can or want to afford it, it doesnt go on the list. Much like large schools or schools in big cities dont go on the list. Must meet minimum criteria and cost is one of them.â⬠Hereââ¬â¢s what one familyââ¬â¢s strategy was: ââ¬Å"We have a bottom line if after merit awards the bottom line is more than XX, then its a no go. We are not against loans, but will not take loans in our name and will only cosign up to a predetermined amount. He does not want a lot of debt and we dont want the relationship issues that often go along with cosigning.â⬠Find the Right School ââ¬â For Fit and Finances As you make your college list, think about not just academics but cost as well. A safety school isnââ¬â¢t a safety if itââ¬â¢s out of reach financially! Donââ¬â¢t worry about the rankings. Instead, focus on finding the right fit and looking for generous schools. Do careful research ââ¬â about schools as well as about private student loans or other financial options. It pays to balance your studentââ¬â¢s college list financially. However political freedom appears to be paradoxical and is almost theoretical rather than practical. According to Rose, this is because the world today is characterized by the opposition existing between freedom and government. As suggested by Baum (2000), the value of current politics has been defined by the value of liberalism. A state which is liberal is limited in that the practices of the government are restricted by individual liberty. With the issue of globalization, freedom is understood as practical, material, governmental and technical. The principle of individual freedom is an only moral aspect which has led to a growing and advanced civilization. Protecting and enhancing citizens freedom secures the state s wealth, productivity, health, and its welfare. Nikolas Rose argues that freedom has been the governments objective. It is also perceived as governments instrument and means of prom oting the intervention of various governing technologies. According to Zygmunt Bauman, Freedom refers to a situation whereby the motives of the individual shape their actions and the desired results of the outcome. Therefore according to him freedom exists as a relational condition within the structure of the society but not as a universal condition. In my opinion it is the development towards an improved or more advanced condition. However what I perceive something to be could be biased due to my beliefs and value system, this is a limitation which must be considered when discussing progress in reference to the natural sciences and the arts. Reason and imagination play an important role in both understanding and comparing progress in the natural sciences and the arts but, while the imaginative insights of a scientist must ultimately be provable, those of artists need only to be reasonable. The interactions between these ways of knowing vary between theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Therefore the title must be approached differently, allowing for the development of the claim that progress in the natural sciences is more beneficial to society than in the arts. It is apparent that the knowledge gaine d from the natural sciences is generally considered to be the more reliable and true area of knowledge, opposed to the arts. Logic and reason are used as its primary ways of knowing which allow for the gathering of information through analysing data and observing experiments. Therefore we make the assumption that by gaining new information, through experimental practices, we are making progress in the development towards an ââ¬Ëimprovedââ¬â¢ condition. This type of scientific progress can be classified as methodical (the invention of new methods of research, the refinement of research) and cognitive (increase or advancement of scientific knowledge) progresses. One example of this is the Eliminate Dengue Programme, which aims to develop a natural method to reduce the spread of dengue. The research team have shown that their approach reduces dengue transmission when the Wolbachia bacteria is introduced into mosquitoes in laboratories and affected communities, for example Yorkeys Knob which is where I live. Progress has indeed occurred, where dengue mosquito populations in Yorkeys Knob have been successfully reduced, if not completely removed. So why climate change? Why not obesity, or population control, or education? While all of those are problems that deserve discussion, no single topic is so fundamental to us as humans as climate change. In 2007 Al Gore stated in his person of the year interview that ââ¬Å"Today we re dumping 70 million tons of global-warming pollution into the environment, and tomorrow we will dump more, and there is no effective worldwide response. Until we start sharply reducing global-warming pollution, I will feel that I have failed.â⬠(Walsh) Perhaps the paradigm has changed. Climate change is now talked about at every level of government, in large and small businesses, and communities across the globe. In a socialism system, the state plans and produces goods, and either owns or redistributes resources among its citizens. In a capitalist economy, the political system emphasizes competition for resources as a means of increasing wealth and developing personal success. In a socialist economy, the emphasis is on distributing wealth so that individual needs are met with collective capital. Both capitalism and socialism have advantages and disadvantages. However, I prefer to live in an economic and political system that affords me opportunities to own and develop personal success. In section 1 of the Virginia Declaration of Rights, it states that all men have certain inherent rights. One of those rights is ââ¬Å"the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing propertyâ⬠. This is one of the principles of capitalism. Under a capitalistic society, individuals are responsible for protecting their own interests in the marketplace and within their communities. People are encouraged to direct their talents in a way that benefits themselves, such as by starting a business or entering a highly profitable profession. Although many argue that this can produce a disproportion between wealthy families and those struggling, I believe that if you work hard and acquire property, you should be able to keep it. ââ¬Å"No manââ¬â¢s goods or estate shall be taken away from himâ⬠from the Massachusetts Body of Liberties further solidifies the principle of the economic system of a capitalistic society. In no way would I approve of my property being taken away from me and redistributed to others. I strongly believe that the courage and perseverance the pilgrims demonstrated on their voyage and landing in America is a testament to the liberties our nation was founded on. Moreover, if you work hard, why should you not be rewarded? Similarly, the political system of a capitalistic society provides us with many freedoms. In the Massachusetts Body of Liberties, it states that ââ¬Å"no manââ¬â¢s person shall be restrained or imprisoned by any Authority whatsoever, before the law has sentenced him thereto. â⬠In other words, you are innocent until proven guilty. What a privilege it is to live in a society that gives us the opportunity to prove our innocence before declaring us guilty of a crime. I canââ¬â¢t imagine living in a society where they believe you are guilty and you have to prove your innocence. Socialism relies on governmental planning, rather than the marketplace, to distribute resources. While it is usually possible for individuals living in a socialist country to own businesses or offer professional services directly to consumers, they are usually taxed heavily on their profits. Public services are typically numerous and funded by taxpayer money. Citizens are expected to work, but the government provides services such as education, healthcare, and public transportation for free or at very low cost. Socialist countries also often have extensive social welfare systems to aid the unemployed, disabled, and elderly. This might sound like a great idea; however, you are limited in what you can acquire because you have to share what you have with others. How fair is it for you to work hard and have to provide for others who are not your family? I believe that people in a socialist society become dependent on the government to provide them with even the basic necessities. I prefer to live in a system that does not force me to provide for others. Socialism means direct control and management of the industries and social services by the workers through a democratic government based on their nationwide economic organization. Under socialism, all authority will originate from the workers, integrally united in Socialist Industrial Unions. In each workplace, the rank and file will elect whatever committees or representatives are needed to facilitate production. Within each shop or office division of a plant, the rank and file will participate directly in formulating and implementing all plans necessary for efficient operations. In theory, it sounds like a great idea. Nevertheless, in my opinion, this system is flawed because you are handing over power to individuals who might not have the best interests of the people as a priority. Both capitalism and socialism have some strong and weak points. Nevertheless, because of my beliefs and background, I prefer to live in a society that allows me the opportunity to get as far as I can without limiting me. Capitalism provides that avenue for me. Therefore, I believe that it is a good fit. Many of us cant. Forests cover approximately one fifth of the worlds land surface and play an important role in our everyday lives (Dudley 4). Forests provide us with many products and services from helping maintain erosion to providing jobs for our citizens. Humanity depends on the survival of a healthy ecosystem and deforestation is causing many social, economic and ecological problems. One ecological problem is Global warming witch is caused when carbon is released into the air after the burning of forests. Governments and industries must become more aware of these consequences of their activities and change accordingly. They need to cooperate with forest management and work towards a future that benefits all. Humans need to be educated about the current issues of the forests in order for us to save, preserve or sustain these places that provide us with so much. Humans depend tremendously on the worlds forests, but yet were the ones destroying them. For humans, the forests have many aesthetic, recreational, economic, and cultural values. Timber and other products of the forests are important economically both locally and as exports. They provide employment for those who harvest the wood or for those who make products from the living forest. Forests also provide us with medical drugs, dyes and fabrics. There are many people who are dependent on forestland for their livelihoods. One third of the worlds people depend on wood for fuel as a significant energy source (Dudley). Not only do the forests provide some people with homes, but also provides a popular setting for ecotourism, which includes hiking, camping, bird watching and other outdoor adventure or nature study activities. All these activities and products the forests provide us are at great risk from deforestation. Not only do forests provide us with all this but also protect soil from erosion and reduces the risks of landslides and avalanches. Trees help sustain freshwater supplies therefore are an important factor in the availability of one of lifes basic needs. Forests affect the climate and are also a very important source of oxygen. One major factor that the forests carry is that they are the home to over one half of the worlds total species (Dudley). Currently we are discovering 20 new species of insects and 15 species of plants each day (Dudley 13). Recent reports by the World Resources Institute have shown that more than 80% of the plants natural forests have already been destroyed (Hatch). Yes humankind is the cause of deforestation, however us humans are also capable of having a positive effect on this crisis. Tropical forests cover about 10 per cent of the worlds dry land surface, mostly located in South America and Asia (Dudley 6). In the tropical forests of the world, deforestation is occurring for agriculture and livestock pastures. The main cause is the unequal distribution of land (Anderson). Temperate forests are found in land areas that are warm enough and low enough to support trees but not so hot to be tropical. They are found in North America, Europe and cooler parts of Australia (Dudley 4). The problems in temperate forests are not so much the decrease in overall forest area, but the substantial change in the types of forests and their ecological diversity and stability. Commercial forestry is the main cause of deforestation in temperate forests. In very broad terms, the total area of forest in Europe, the USSR and North America is likely to decrease only slightly in the medium future, but the proportion of forest existing as plantation is liable to rise sharply (Dudley 66). Th is however is going to lead to an increase in conflict between the recreational and conservation interests and will also tend to make forestry a more capital-intensive operation, thus providing fewer jobs. .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 , .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .postImageUrl , .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 , .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2:hover , .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2:visited , .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2:active { border:0!important; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2:active , .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2 .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u849f2923aec3dd9e39bf5649d5bceaa2:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Japanese in America EssaySince so many people are dependent on the worlds forests, deforestation will have a social, economical and ecological effect on the world. Three ways in which find the importance of a town are:* Population size* Shops and Services* Sphere of InfluenceThere are many other ways in which you can use to find the importance of a town and I plan to investigate them by using my hypothesis.CoalislandCoalisland is a mall town in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. It has a population size of 4917 people (in the 2001 census). The name of this town suggests that it was involved with the coal industry. This is indeed true as Coalisland had its very own coal industry as it was formerly a centre for coal mining. Coalisland was also very well known for its coalfields.Coalisland was served by a canal. It was built in 1733 and opened in 1787. The canal was mainly used to transport the goods made in Coalisland to nearby coal pits. Many goods such as clay pipes, coal and corn were produced in Coalisland. These goods were then transported to many places such as Dublin, Newry, Belfast and Lisburn. The canal became a trading depot for those who lived nearby. Coalisland had influenced many people to come and trade in it as it was doing so well within in its industries and as large quantities of general merchandise could be imported and exported with ease. The canal finally closed in 1946 as they used Lorries as a better method of transport for their goods. This was because Lorries could transport the goods much faster an d safer. In 1954 the canal was officially abandoned and had a relegated status as a drainage ditch. The closure of the canal was a huge downfall for Coalisland as it stopped all connections from trading to a lot of other industries.Coalisland railway station was opened on the 28th of July 1897 and closed for passenger traffic on the 16th of January 1956. As for the goods traffic which opened on the 5th of October, it finally closed down on the 1st of April in 1965. Today there are no remains of that railway, other than the bridge on the Derry road, an old goods shed and also grown over platforms. The education today in Coalisland is at its best. There are many schools in Coalisland. The primary schools are:* Primate Dixon* St. Johns* Gaelscoil Ui NeillGaelscoil Ui Neill is an Irish primary school. There is only one secondary school in Coalisland and it is called St. Josephs College and has been open for over 40 years.Coalisland had a good history of sport especially in football. Coal island Na Fianna is the local Gaelic Athletic Association club. Dennis Taylor originated from Coalisland as well and comedian Peter Kays mother came from Coalisland also. Many things have changed in Coalisland today form when it first grew up. The canal has now been partly built over and has some shops on top. The corn mill in Coalisland is now the Local heritage centre and the coal mines are now all closed off due to the fact that coal is longer being produced in Coalisland and the town has found many other ways to keep it profitable. Coalisland now consists of many convience stores and two supermarkets. There are also many hair-dressers and clothes shops as well.Coalisland has also very good accessibility today as the roads are good to travel on. Coalisland is roughly 3miles off the M1 Motorway and is about 40miles from Belfast. Coalisland is South West of Lough Neagh and is about 5miles from Dungannon.Coalisland Corn mill 1930 Coalisland Heritage CentreCoalisland Canal in 2003Dung annonAt one stage Dungannon was the Capital of Ireland in the early 1600s due to Hugh O Neill being situated here. Dungannon is situated on top of a hill. The O Neills had built a castle on this hill as it acted as a good defence for the town. Dungannon was the main stronghold of the O Neills from the 14th Century until the Plantation of Ulster. All traces of the O Neills fort on the hill has gone but the name is recalled in The Fort Bar in Scotch street.Dungannon used to be well known for being a market town, but now all of that has changed as it is now mainly a trading town. Dungannon has a population of 12,000 people. It contains many shops and services. It also has many entertainment venues, swimming pools, cinemas, pubs and bars not like in Coalisland.Dungannon is also South West of Lough Neagh and is 5miles from Coalisland. Dungannon isnt that far away from the M1 Motorway. This has increased the trading percentage in Dungannon by a lot and has influenced other department stor es and industries to trade in here.Dungannon had at one time, a linen industry but it has now been replaced by textile industries and glassworks. There are many popular industries in and out of Dungannon. For instance Tyrone Crystal attracts a lot of tourists into Dungannon. Another industry with is situated in Dungannon is Tyrone Brick. It first produced brick form the clay made in Coalisland.Today in the town centre of Dungannon you would find many department stores and some convience stores. There are many jewellery shops, clothes shops, corner shops, hairdressers and restaurants in Dungannon. Dungannon is also the third largest town in County Tyrone. This is the Castle Ruins todayOn the following page you will see a map. It includes the location of my two study areas which are in Northern Ireland. My study areas are Dungannon and Coalisland.Aims of my CourseworkThe aim of my geography coursework is to study and investigate two local towns within Northern Ireland. These two towns are Dungannon and Coalisland. The main reason as to why I chose to study these two towns is because they are situated in my local area. I live in the town of Coalisland and it is where I go to school. Dungannon is the nearest large town where I would go to shop for clothes and other high order goods. During my piece of coursework I studied a very important topic. This topic was on settlement. In this topic you learn about settlement hierarchies i.e., some towns within a region will be of more importance due to the fact of it having a larger population and a greater number of shops and services in it. As a class we all have decided to base our investigation around the topic of settlement hierarchies and so we will compare Dungannon and Coalisland. The aim of my coursework investigation is to prove that towns with a bigger population and surface area are higher up the settlement hierarchy. These towns will also have a wider range of shops and services. Towns like these will have a bigg er sphere of influence than other towns. In order to carry out this investigation, I have developed three hypotheses to help me do so.They are as follows:1) Dungannon has a larger population and surface area than Coalisland.2) Dungannon is a more accessible shopping town than Coalisland.3) Dungannon has a larger sphere of influence than Coalisland.MethodologyDuring class, having discussed the hypothesis for this coursework, we had to decide how we were going to collect the data and information that we needed in order to prove each hypothesis. Some of the information which we need was as follows:* Area size of each town.* The distances people travelled to a shop.* If the people came to buy high order or low order goods.* Where the people lived and shopped in each of the towns.* The population figures for each town.* The method in which the people travelled.* How often people shopped for high order and low order goods. There was two main way in which I needed to collect the necessary inf ormation. The first main way was from primary sources. This is just were you personally, collect the information you need yourself in each town. The second main way was from secondary sources. This is just information you get like on the internet, which has been already collected for you. This kind of information is as what you can say as second-hand information. You can get more secondary information from libraries, local newspapers, local council, tourist information, the population census for Northern Ireland and so on.In order to gather the primary information our class decided on making a questionnaire for each of the towns. We also decided on carrying out a survey of the number of shops and services found in each of the towns. The questions are as follows:1. What is the name of the town or village where you live? This question is asked to help us find out the towns sphere of influence.Less than 1 mile1-2 miles2-5 milesMore than 5 miles2. How far did you travel to come here? This was asked in our survey to help us calculate the actual sphere of influence of each of the towns telling us how far people are willing to ravel to a town for some low order goods such as bread and milk and also high order goods like furniture and clothes.WalkCarBusOther3. How did you travel here? This question was asked because it lets us know how people travel and what ways of transport they would use most often.4. Would you come to this town to only buy or use the following services?Milk/BreadYes/NoNewspaperYes/NoClothesYes/NoShoesYes/NoFurnitureYes/NoElectrical goodsYes/NoPost OfficeYes/NoSolicitorYes/NoThis question tells you what people mostly tend to buy in each of the two towns. It tells you whether they use they town to shop for higher order or low order goods and this also shows the importance of the town.5. What are the three main goods/services you use this town for?GroceriesNewspaperPost OfficeClothesEntertainmentHousehold goodsBankingThis again shows what each of the tow ns is mostly used for and it also can tell you which town would have better shops and services.6. Have you come here today for any particular reason?Again this question tells you what each of the towns is used for helping you to find out the importance of each of the towns.Thursday the 25th of September was the day in which we decided to carry out our survey investigation. Thursday the 25th was the chosen date for when we were to carry out our investigation because Thursday was near the weekend. This meant that the town would be very busy as people would be out doing their weekly shopping and probably out sorting out their business. In Dungannon, every Thursday is a traditional flower market day, which would bring a lot of people into the town for grocery shopping etc.We travelled into Dungannon by bus. We left our school at approximately 9.30am. Once we arrived in Dungannon we were put into groups of two. The first thing we did was take a survey of the number of shops and services in the town. We walked through the main shopping area of Dungannon called Market Square, making a tally of the shops and services as we past them. We then continued along some streets of the town. These streets are as follows:* Irish Street* Church Street* William Street* John Street* Thomas Street* Scotch StreetThere is a map included in my Geography coursework and these streets in which I have surveyed are located in this map of Dungannon. The second main thing we done, was to go to our positions on the streets any carry out the investigation. These positions could be like Menarys, Boots chemist, Woolworths, Peacocks, Tescos, Birthdays and Sainsburys. As a class we took a sample of 100 people. The reason for this was that we could easily change our results into percentages. Whilst carrying out our questionnaire we asked every third person as this is what youre meant to do when doing a questionnaire to make your results more accurate.During the afternoon we repeated the above process in Coalisland. The streets in which we did out questionnaire on are:* Main Street* The Square* Dungannon Road* Lineside* Washingbay Road* Barrack Street. When we were carrying out the questionnaire we stood outside some shops such as Sulivans, The Jet, Spring Island, Mc Glincheys, Landis, Taxi service, The Charity Shop and so on.Whilst doing our investigation in each town we took some sketches and some pictures, showing how our investigation looked in process.Dungannon has a larger surface area and population than Coalisland. In this hypothesis my class and I want to find out two pieces of information about each of the towns we are studying, Dungannon and CoalislandThese two pieces of information are:1. Population of each town.2. Area of each town. The reason as to why I want this information is so that I can find out which of the two towns, Dungannon and Coalisland, will be further up the settlement hierarchy. I expect that for a town to be higher up the settlement hierarchy it would have to have a greater area and have a larger population than the other town. This would make it a more important town than the other. I expect that Dungannon would be higher up the settlement hierarchy as it would have far more shops and services in it, bringing a lot of people into the town whereas Coalisland would have fewer shops and services in it bringing less people into the town than in Dungannon. This information can be collected from secondary sources i.e. from the internet, books and the local council.I used a website called www.ninis.nisra.gov.uk/ to help me obtain the information in which I need to find the population of each town. The website gives many statistics on local town, villages and cities that are in your area in Northern Ireland. A population census is also given within each of these towns. From this information I am able to observe the population for Dungannon and Coalisland in the 2001 census. The results are given as follows in the table below:Population t able for each townDungannonCoalisland11,1394,917I have displayed these population figures on a bar chart which is just below:Interpretation of resultsAfter observing the information from my bar chart you can clearly see that Dungannon obviously has a bigger population then Coalisland, by a large amount. Dungannon has a population of 11,139 people and Coalisland has a population of 4,917 people in the 2001 census.Area of Dungannon and CoalislandAs a class we came to the conclusion that we would expect that a town with a larger population (Dungannon: 11,139), would have a larger area than a town with a smaller population (Coalisland: 4,917), because there will be more shops, offices and houses etc in that town.MethodHow to find out the area of each townWe needed to find out the actual surface area of Dungannon and Coalislands town centre. In order to do this we needed individual maps of each of the two towns. We obtained planning maps from the Northern Ireland Planning Service in Omag h. These two maps are showing on pages and As you can see from the maps the boundary line it highlighted in a dark black line. The next step was to measure the area. To do this I got tracing paper and put it over the maps, I traced the boundary line and then placed it over a page with grid squares. After that I had to count the number of squares inside each of the boundary lines of each town. Using the scale on each map I was able to easily work out the area of each town centre. There calculations are given in the following tables. Results for Coalisland Town Centre Results of Dungannon Town CentreScale 1.5cm = 30metresMap scale = 3cm to 100mEach square = 100 x 100= 10,000m2Total squares = 48 full20 half (i.e. 10 full squares)= 48 + 10= 58 squaresArea = 58 x 10,000m2Area of DungannonTown = 580,000m2CentreTotal Squares = 168 full and 40 half.= 40/2= 20 full squares= 168 + 20= 188 full squares= 188 x 900m2= 169,200m2Area of CoalislandTown = 169,200m2CentreEach square = 30m x 30m = 9 00m2Summary TableTownArea in m2Dungannon580,000 m2Coalisland169,200 m2Interpretation of my resultsAs you can see by observation Dungannon has a larger area than Coalisland. My bar chart also tells you that Dungannon has even more than twice the area of Coalisland. The reason as to why Dungannon has a larger area than Coalisland is that it has a larger population. Dungannon has a population of 11,139 people and Coalisland has a population of 4,917 people. With Dungannon having such a large population of 11,139 people, it would have to have a very large surface area to serve its people. This are would include places for car parks, housing, shops and other services which help to provide the towns people with what they may need. This is exactly what I had expected and therefore it proved my hypothesis Dungannon has a larger surface area and population than Coalisland right. This is used when it is imperative that you ensure that your essay does not contain plagiarism or is unique. If you are given this as part of the research phase, there are several things that you should know about writing an essay. The first thing that you need to do is write down the exact idea that you have. Write down exactly what it is that you want to say. Do not just write anything down, instead, draw out all the ideas that you want to put in your essay. For example, if you do not know where to begin, draw out where you want to end up. This way, you will be able to stay focused on the essence of your writing.Remember that if you have not thought about a topic before, it is going to make it difficult for you to write. This is a fact. You will definitely feel as though you are talking a mile a minute, and that is not a good feeling. Try and cut it down to three topics. Now, you will know exactly what to write.Remember that although you are writing something, you are in the process of research. As such, do not put too much emotion into your writing. Keep it simple. This is important, because writing is something that should be very factual.Mind you, research can go in all directions. So, do not think that your research will not matter. It is important to your essay. Research will help you get the information that you need to write about. But, remember that you should make sure that you are not writing out of someone's ideas. The last thing that you need to do is to get into an article, or article that you are going to use as your research. The article must be based around your topic. Do not use anything that you do not feel is relevant. It is important that you do not feel like you are trying to make an encyclopedia. There are plenty of books that are easier to read. They do not have as many details in them.Remember that you ar e in the process of research. It is important that you do not put too much emotion into your writing. If you do, you will find it hard to come up with a very good essay. Conversely, the warning is also issued because the public has the proclivity to make comparative assessments by comparing statistical data of different units. These units neither factor the complex-whole because information gathering has to be limited to certain objectives nor do members of the public consider the overlooking of the complex-whole in the war on crime. The import of this is that the public is bound to make wrong conclusions in their assessments, since they had wrong premises fed by inadequate information. The overall impact of the foregoing can take a multifaceted look as the public is bound to make wrong conclusions to the effect that a unit is ineffective or moribund in the war on crime. The culmination of this may be the straining of the police/law-enforcement-public/community relations (Hayes, 2005). This is a widely held and oversimplified conception about a thing, a person or a group of people. In other words, her ownerââ¬â¢s equity was increased by revenues, and it was decreased by expenses and dividends. Interest is an expense because it represents a necessary payment to others (i. e. , creditors) for the use of their moneyââ¬âthus, it is a ââ¬Å"costâ⬠of doing business. Dividends are a distribution of profits to the owners of the firm and represent a partial liquidation of the firm. A dividend is not an expense because it represents a profit distribution; it is not a ââ¬Å"costâ⬠of doing business. f. g. When money is borrowed from the bank, an asset (cash) is increased and a liability (notes payable) is also increased by an equal amount. Net income is increased only when revenue has been earnedââ¬âand money borrowed from the bank represents a liability that must be repaid, not revenue that has been earned. Paying off accounts payable decreases an asset (cash) and decreases a liability (accounts payable) by an equal amount. Collecting an account receivable increases an asset (cash) and decreases another asset (accounts receivable) by equal amounts. In both cases, only balance sheet accounts are involved. Net income is increased by revenues and decreased by expenses. The expense associated with a cash payment of an account payable would have been recorded in an earlier transaction (when the expense was incurred and the account payable was established); by the same logic, the revenue associated with the collection of an account receivable would have been recorded in an earlier transaction (when the revenue was earned and the account receivable was established).Amounts shown in the balance sheet below reflect the following use of the data given: An asset should have a probable future economic benefit; therefore the accounts receivable are stated at the amount expected to be collected from customers. Assets are reported at original cost, not current worth. Depreciation in accounting reflects the spreading of the cost of an asset over its estimated useful life. Assets are reported at original cost, not at an assessed or appraised value. The amount of the note payable is calculated using the accounting equation, A = L + OE. Total assets can be determined based on items (a), (b), and (c); total owners equity is known after considering item (e); and the note payable is the difference between total liabilities and the accounts payable. The retained earnings account balance represents the difference between cumulative net income and cumulative dividends. The problem could be solved without calculating this number. Though the hurricane never hit the city itself, through its huge rainfall content, it has caused levee breaches which had dealt the most damage as flood devastated the city, and was thus dubbed as the worst engineering disaster in the history of the United States (Kilpatrick & Dermisi, 2007). Lost of lives and property were dealt during the incident, as the crime rates hiked up due to the disorder caused by the hurricane, and images of criminals engaging grand theft auto were seen live on television, as buildings were burning or being wrecked by the flood.Critics continue to blame various groups, individuals and factors for the terrible incident which has scarred the peopleââ¬â¢s hearts and minds, and has terrorized and affected both individuals and their pets who were residents of the ci ty, still learning who to blame, and being tight in releasing funds for insurance claims, and learning whether the state should pay for the damages or not. Yet, whether damages were paid or remain unpaid, and whether individuals who should be blamed were blamed or left unquestioned, it must be realized that beyond restoring the finances of the people and giving due justice, healing the wounds of each and every resident of New Orleans who currently suffer from the emotional, and psychological baggage which burden each and every one of them must be realized and given due priority.Faulty Urban Planning. The development of cities and industries has caused the increase of population in areas near industrial zones in consideration to the convenience brought about by being near to the jobs present in the area. The continuing increase in the population and demand for cheap homes have been the critical factors in pursuing the building of homes in marshlands, swamps, reclamation areas, and ot her low ground areas by the Government led United States Army Corps of Engineers, in the City of New Orleans. After the construction of the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal in 1940, the state closed the commercial waterways which were used before for waterborne commerce, leading to the drastic lowering of the cityââ¬â¢s water table. The US Army Corps of Volunteers then built a levee system around the area covering much of the cityââ¬â¢s marshlands and swamps, without consideration to the possible subsidence brought about by the compression of underlying soils. These brought about land subsidence of up to 8 feet or 2 meters in some areas which were reclaimed by the US government. A recent study of the Tulane University notes that 49% of New Orleans is below sea level, with the majority of the population on the higher ground. However, the mean elevation of the city has become between 1 and 2 feet below the sea level, with some parts as high as 16 feet and some parts as deep as 10 fe et. The city is also bordered by the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, and is marbled with canals and bayous (Galle, 2007) which maybe considered geologically hazardous.Moving on. Two years after the incident, the residents of New Orleans are still trying to cope up with the emotions, and the losses which they have incurred during Hurricane Katrina. For some individuals, moving on might be a very easy thing to do, especially if they have some other place to move on to. Yet for some, the typhoon was just the beginning, especially if theyââ¬â¢re homes have been washed out or burned by some thug or all their assets and even their pets are gone. A year after the typhoon businesses in the high ground started to bloom again, as most of the restaurants are open, the Convention Center began to have bookings, and almost all of the premium office space in the business district is occupied, and the Port of New Orleans is nearly back to normal.Tourists have also started to come back, and almost half of New Orleansââ¬â¢ pre-Katrina population is back mostly crowded into the high ground along the river (Ydstie, 2006). For some individuals, the damage dealt by Hurricane Katrina was something that has made them further down, as insurance companies refused to pay some victims due to some loopholes within the insurance policies such as the wind vis-à -vis flood, and the flood vis-à -vis hurricane policies. Some insurance companies claim that individuals could not be compensated for their wrecked homes if their insurance policy says that their houses are insured for hurricane since it was the flooding that has caused the house to be destroyed, a heartless argument that gives no consideration to the logic that there would be no flood if there was no hurricane at all. Worse are the insurance companies who argue that wind was the cause for the housesââ¬â¢ roofs to come off and the flooding did not cause it, thus they would only pay partially for the damages. The se defenses and loopholes of insurance companies made things worst for Katrina Victims, and should be condemned. While most of the individuals suffer from more stressful damages brought about by such insurance companies, what should be stressed for them is the fact that, the first rule of insurance policy construction is that ambiguous policy language is interpreted against the drafter (ââ¬Å"contra proferentemâ⬠) which in most cases are the insurance companies, and also that, insurance agents, must also then be sued for their negligence towards their jobs of making such loophole-full policies (Abraham, 2007). Also individuals who lost their houses are troubled by some policies such as the high ground policy which forces them to make their houses higher, individuals who have problems with stairs such as those suffering from arthritis are troubled by this.Pets after Katrina. During the Hurricane, the residents of New Orleans initially saving their lives left their pets behind. Cats and dogs of different breeds and species were lost, and were forced to roam a world which was unknown to them, while being thirsty and unfed, and while some residents were trying to find back their pets some individuals were arrogant about them such as the cop who threw out a dog named snowball out of a bus (ââ¬Å"Snowball! Snowball!â⬠, 2005). A year after the incident, organizations such as the North Shore Animal League of America, helped retrieved pets of New Orleansââ¬â¢ residents. Initiatives to house some of the pets which no one claimed, however there has been a lack of credible population to adopt such pets.Lessons learned. Some individuals say that the impact Hurricane Katrina has dealt is comparable to the impact of the Oakland Firestorm which hit Oakland California in 1991, which then, was a large urban fire which occurred in the northern Oakland, California, and which has killed 25 people and injured 150 others. While some issues of Hurricane Katrina are com parable, such as the amount of damage dealt, and the fact that most of the victims of the Oakland Firestorm were somewhat unaware of their insurance policies just like the victims of Katrina, the issues of complacency and uncompetitive planning are the factors which make the circumstances of the two incidents different. While the damages dealt by Hurricane Katrina were due to the lack of mitigation, and the lack of competitive advantage in terms of planning, the damages brought about by the fire in Oakland California were mainly due to the complacency of the residents and the local municipality in terms of controlling the fire.Reflections. While it holds true that acts of God could never be controlled by man, it must always be taken into consideration, that God has given us our brains for us to analyze and think about what we can do just in case. In the case of Hurricane Katrina, the damage could have been avoided if there were only enough mitigation done, such as holding studies ab out the geography and the soil composition of the area, and taking a close monitor over the movements of the soil and the water levels, and making detailed and well thought off engineering measures to prevent such incident from happening again. It must also be taken into account that there have been not enough measures to provide emotional support for the victims of the typhoon, and such emotional stress and tension must be given consideration and priority by the government and other support groups.ReferencesAbraham, K.S. 2007. Part A. The project was not so challenging for me as one of our group member works there. So it was easy for us to ask permission from Manager of Hospital to do research. XXX Rest Home and Hospital is for elderly people, and its about helping, so it was really nice to do research there. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "A Reflective Review on a Management Project" essay for you Create order My focus and observation was to complete the research and provide solutions to the manager about its existing problems. I had good opportunity to learn new skills. I got chance to communicate with different people of different status, religion, values. I got chances to do presentation, attend meeting with staffs, doing interviews and problem solving and time management skills. No, my perception was not changed after finishing the research. The research is on Hospital and I have worked in hospitals as staff, so it was easy for me to know the basic things. As it was a good opportunity to learn new skill like time management, problem solving, so it was good work for me. During the whole process I was helped by my friends, so it was more effective. This research was an opportunity to learn new things, which I did not know before. I was more curious and seeking something new, so I learn how the Hospital runs, how they do quality management. I will try to make it more effective. I would like to avoid extra time. I would like to go more on depth, to maintain good standard and to make good presentation. Iââ¬â¢d like to conduct interviews with more staffs and clients, to know more about hospital. Group was good and effective. It was a great experience working in a group. On the first meeting we decided the place of research, had research on website and one of our group member is working there so she share his knowledge and about that Hospital. Second meeting was to know the problems about that hospital. We had discussion on that topic. We knew our individual responsibility. One group member was given responsibility to conduct meetings. Then we wrote down every group decisions and problems we had during research, which made easy for us writing this assignment. We had good group dynamic, we did not run away from our responsibilities. We learn from one another, as we had different views, ideas and way of thinking. We had support to each other and it ga ve me confidence. As an exception, sometimes time management was not good, as all of we are working and sometime it was hard for us to manage time and it was frustrating not to finish work on time. Even through the difficulties, we did our work on time and group communication, dynamic was excellent. Part B. The Problem Solving Process Selected From The Project Process. First we wrote down the possible problems that may have in Hospital. We had discussion on those problems and we decided to research about those problems. During the research I use following steps; Identify the problem: we focused to identify the problems that are existing in XXX Rest Home and Hospital. We did interview to manager, clinical leader to discuss about the existing issues of XXX Rest Home and Hospital. After interview we did discussion and analyzed to find the problems. Analyse the problem: during analysing the problem, we gather information from staffs, clients and respected people also we had observation. Though the discussion we came to know the problem of communication and not having team dynamic. Staffs had communication barrier with some clients, and they need to buy and fix equipments. Conforming solution: we did research in the problems; we had power points from tutor to find the possible solution for the problems. Implementation of solution: we gave the list of solutions to the manager and hope they implement the solutions. I think working in new ways and with new skill are better way to understand it in depth. I prepared list of questioners for staff and distribute on them. I also did interview to manager to discuss about solving problems. I made sure all the data are applicable for research. I did very good planning and collect the evidence needed for research. I was seeking for appropriate solutions. So the questionnaires was not given to all staff, some staffs are in different shifts and the answers were confidential. If I can do problem solving again I would like to record interview and ask more questions to staffs. I will like to observe staffs for long time, how do they behave and how do they treat clients. The decision making process you selected as part of your project process. Personally I think Autocratic style is the best strategic in decision making process. This style doesnââ¬â¢t bring major problems. I will use management theories properly and instruments for data gatheri ng. We use Six thinking Hat as the tool for decision making. This tool was used on all objectives. This tool was done on staff training, manual handling, and staff attendance. The decision making process was effective for our research. This helped us to look on every aspect on detail. So the decision making process was kind of easy for us. But some time it was difficult to use Six thinking Hat, as it is confusing some times. If I can do again then I would like do more reading and gain knowledge on the related topics, to make decisions accurate and effective. Before make any decisions I would look for the consequences it brings. The research method you selected as part of your project process For research methods we used interviews, questionnaires, observation. We also conducted interview with manager, residents, staffs, residentââ¬â¢s family and we gathered information we needed. Observation was good because we knew how the staff works, their attitude, how they treat clients. We came to know about daily routine of XXX Rest Home and Hospital. It was very effective during the research. Interview was very good and effective because it was done face to face. The topics were discussed with the manager and clinical leader. This helped us to know their values, leadership style. Questionnaires were very effective; it helped us to know residents view and their family perception about XXX Rest Home and Hospital. They gave their thinking about the services of the Hospital. We looked to website also to know mission and objective of XXX Rest Home and Hospital. These methods were very effective during our research. We put our great effort to gather information. We divided the task equally for all of us. To make research effective we discuss the confessional topics. We made sure that we gather effective data. We had great team dynamic. We did not use statistical analysis. We did our research within the premises of Hospital. We just wrot e down the information. Yes planned research instruments used: Set the question in organized way Maintain confidentiality of information Gathered data in absolute term. If the project needs to do again, I would use the same methods as it is helpful and appropriate. The management of the project process We did not use any standard management model during the process. We used different approaches during the process. We planned the project properly and we did not have many approaches to reduce difficulties. It was a good team work, we team members were from different cultural background, it was a good experience working with them. We try to give our best in the research; we bear the responsibility so it was not hard task for us. If I had to do this project again, I would improve time management and make good group dynamic. Application of management concepts Controlling Organizing Planning Controlling is very necessary for quality management. We all controlled the tasks that were designated or given to us. We made sure that we do not try to control each other because this was a group project and all the group members believed in each otherââ¬â¢s strengths. Organizing is the way to take the research in a way. We organized time for observation, group meetings, and interviews in a systematic way. Planning was very useful during the research. We planned the time table and the task we need to finish. We used the principle of ethical research, we sent official letter to ask permission to do research on the hospital. Critical review of the solutions your team proposed to the managerial problem From the research we provide numbers of solutions, and they are discussed below: Communication between manager, staff and residents: there should be good communication between manager, staff and residents. Good communication helps them to provide quality services and it also reduces misunderstanding and miss concept. Encourage people to be a volunteer to help the caring service for residents. If the hospital have financial problem then they can look for volunteer care givers. This is the best way to provide person centre care, and they do not need to pay also. Volunteer makes the work fast. Increase the number and quality of equipments. In order to provide quality care hospital needs to improve the quality of equipments. . Education of time management to manager and staff. Regular training programmes encourage staffs to provide quality care. Training can improve staffs skills and provides knowledge. These solutions can make facilities services much better and quick. This will attract client in this hospital. I believe these solutions are effective to implement and the result will better. However, the 2006 film adaptation of Jane Eyre starring Ruth Wilson as Jane Eyre and Toby Stephens as Edward Fairfax Rochester successfully mirrors Bronteââ¬â¢s novel all the while keeping the audience engaged and intrigued. The film successfully allows the audience, including those who have and have not read the novel, to stay engaged in the film all the while gaining a deeper understanding of the characters, tone, and plot by accurately representing the novel, strategically splitting the film into two parts, and utilizing a cast that physically and mentallyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Without having to spend much time in Lowood, the audience sees the abuse in Janeââ¬â¢s childhood through the setting duplicated by the film. Her childhood isnââ¬â¢t as prevalent in the film as it is in t he novel, which I was not happy about. I believe her childhood to be one of the most important parts of her character development, because Jane overcomes the Nature vs. Nurture stigma that was relied heavily on by The Ingramââ¬â¢s in the novel, and by the society of this era. Jane proves that even in an abusive home and a poor school, she is completely capable of becoming a functioning and educated woman in her society. The accuracy in this film provides a sense of ease in the audience. Because of the extreme attention to detail, the film is easy to understand and enjoy if you have or have not read the novel. Before beginning the film, its long length, a daunting 3 hours and 50 minutes, intimidated me. I understood that the content of the movie would be interesting because I had read the novel and knew what to expect. However, for a spectator that has not read the novel prior, I can understand their hesitation to want to begin watching this adaptation. My first impression was that it was ridiculously long, and because of this length, it would be almost impossible to closely pay attention and remain engaged for nearly 4 consecutive hours. Luckily, the director of this film, Susanna White, strategically placed a split in the movie in order toShow MoreRelated Movie - Feminist Themes in Jane Eyre, Novel and Film Versions2260 Words à |à 10 PagesAn Analysis of Feminist Themes in Jane Eyre and its Film Versionsà à à à à à à à à à à Concern for womens rights dates from the Enlightenment, when the liberal, egalitarian, and reformist ideals of that period began to be extended from the bourgeoisie, peasants, and urban laborers to women as well. Do not name musicians. (Visual Artists) Peter Paul Rueben Artemisia Gentiles / (Writers) John Fletcher and Francis Beaumont Write a paragraph about The Baroque Style. The baroque style was very well suited to the wishes of the aristocracy, who were enormously rich and powerful during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, also religious institutions powerfully shaped the baroque style. Churches used the emotional and theatrical qualities of art to make worship more attractive and appealing. The middle class too, influenced the development of the baroque style, for example prosperous merchants and doctors commissioned realistic landscapes and scenes from everyday life. Write a paragraph that includes the characteristics of Baroque music. A. Unity of mood Usually expresses one basic mood: what begins joyfully will remain Joyful throughout. Emotional states like Joy, grief, and agitation were represented. Composers molded a musical language to depict the affections; pacific rhythms or melodic patterns were associated with specific moods. B. Rhythm Rhythmic patterns heard at the beginning of a piece are repeated throughout it. This rhythmic continuity provides a compelling drive and energy-the forward motion is rarely interrupted. The beat, for example, is emphasized far more in baroque music than in most Renaissance music. C. Melody There is a continuous expanding, unfolding, and unwinding of melody. This sense of directed motion is frequently the result of a melodic sequence, that is, successive repetition of a musical dead at higher or lower pitches. Many baroque melodies sound elaborate and ornamental, and they are not easy to sing or remember. It gives an impression of dynamic expansion rather than of balance or symmetry.D. Dynamics The level of volume tends to stay fairly constant for a stretch of time. When the dynamics do shift, the shift is sudden, like physically stepping from one level to another. The main keyboard instruments of the baroque period were the organ and harpsichord, both well suited for continuity of dynamics.E. Texture It is predominantly polyphonic in suture. Usually, the soprano and bass lines are the most important. Not all-late baroque music was polyphonic, a piece might shift in texture, especially in vocal music, where changes of mood in the words demand musical contrast.F. Chords and the basso continuo Chords gave new prominence to the bass part, which served as the foundation of the harmony. The whole musical structure rested on the bass part. The new emphasis on chords and the bass part resulted in the most characteristic feature of baroque music, an accompaniment called the basso continuo. The basso continuo offered the advantage of emphasizing the all-important bass part, besides providing a steady flow of chords.G. Use of words in the music Baroque composers used music to depict the meaning of specific words. Rising scales represented upward motion; descending scales depicted the reverse. Descending chromatic scales were associated with pain and grief. Composers often emphasized words by writing many rapid notes for a single syllable of text; this technique also displayed a singers virtuosity. What was the role of music in Baroque society? It served as musical expression for brilliant composers, a source of entertainment for aristocrats, a way of life for musicians and a temporary escape from the routines of daily life for the general public. What was the goal of the group known as the Camera? The Camera wanted to create a new vocal style modeled on the music of ancient Greek tragedy. Since no actual dramatic music had come down to them from the Greeks, they based their theories on literacy accounts that had survived. The Camera wanted the vocal line to follow the rhythms and pitch fluctuations of beech. Write a detailed description of each of the following new forms in Baroque music:A.
